Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good toy for all ages We received this product in exchange for a review. My three year old loves this toy and found the drill very easy to use to put in and take out the screws. The idea of following a design or pattern is a bit over his head, but something older children would enjoy. For now he just loves having his own power tool like daddy! It comes with two attachments, a socket and a screwdriver, the latter being a bit more challenging. The light up feature is a nice addition though it has to be fairly dark for it to really work well. It also requires many batteries! Overall, great toy for practicing color recognition and fine motor skills and very easy to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Both kiddos love playing with it We were given the toy to review. My 7 year old adores it. He's been playing with it (and then going in the closet or bathroom to see his lit up designs better) constantly since it arrived. The toddler likes the drill, I can follow up later as to how it holds up to chewing and slobber from a kid teething kiddo. :) All in all, both kids have had fun playing with it, the older of the two wants to be an engineer when he grows up so anything with "power tools" is a win. The only complaint we had is that the drill and the lighted base use different batteries. It would have been nice if they both used either AA or AAA, instead of both.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay toy This was tested by my 4.5 yr old daughter. She loved it for the drill because she loves working with her dad in the shop and using his tools. She was able to follow the guides with some assistance from me or her older brothers. She played with it for about an hour the first go around, but has only played with it a couple times since. I thought the drill was a bit large for the hands of a 3+ yr old and somewhat underpowered - you could almost put the bolts in by hand just as fast. If used that way, it would be a great toy to help children with hand strengthening. We're not a big family on battery operated toys, so I don't think I would have bought this on our own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Having fun while learning is possible with this toy This game is FANTASTIC!!! It appeals to all young children. The pieces are small enough for the children to practice fine motor skills, but large enough not to get lost of swallowed. The drill is easy to use and the bits fit easily into the drill. We have played it with several friends and classmates and everyone has loved this game!! I took this game into my classroom to test it out too and it was a hit! The boys loved It because it involved drilling and tools, the girls loved it because it had bright colors, and everyone learned because it involved patterns. Overall this toy is an excellent investment if you want your child to have fun and learn at the same time!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Hands-on and Interactive Toy My three year old son loved this toy as soon as it arrived in the mail. He spent hours and hours drilling the screws and arranging them in patterns. He also liked putting the screws in and taking them back out. The light up part of the toy was a little over his head, maybe he will like it more in a couple months. He liked that he could turn the board on and make it light up but it was not part of his design work. My one complaint about this toy is the number of batteries, you need 3 AA and 3 AAA and they were not included. So far the batteries have last a while. Overall, great hands-on and interactive educational toy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun Way to Learn Drilling Skills My son played with this a lot when he received it. I love that it has a lot of the same capabilities as a "real" drill (you can change it to go front or reverse and there are two different bits that can be swapped out) and its pretty cool when it lights up (like us 80s kids and our light brights). I think I might have had more fun practicing my drilling skills as my 3.5 year old son. I'm only giving it 4stars because we've had it for a few weeks and he seems to have gotten bored of it already. I hope to bring this out more to help show my son all the creative capabilities this has. I think he can eventually fall in love with this. Disclaimer: I received this product in exchange for an honest review

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for dexterity and problem-solving My husband is very handy and loves his tools, so I am always looking for toys that let our 2 year old play and model his work. We were given this toy in exchange for this review and I wasn't convinced that the drill would be simple enough for her little hands, but she picked it up very quickly and had fun at her grandma's all weekend drilling the screws and everything else she could find in grandpa's shop. I think as she gets older, this will have a second life as she gets interested in the patterns included in the instruction booklet and then creating her own. Fun toy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our son loves his Desing & Drill BrightWorks Our son turns 4 this month and he loves the Design & Drill BrightWorks that he just got. He loves the colors and the fact he can use the drill just like daddy to put the bolts into the board. The back lighting for the bolts makes it fun to create a pattern just before bedtime so he can turn out the lights and see it glow. We love the fact that he is counting the number of bolts he needs of each color to create patterns plus he is recognizing shapes as he creates them with the bolts. It's also nice that if daddy is working on a home improvement project that our little guy can get his drill out and work to create something too! I can see where this is going to be a favorite toy as he moves from preschool to school age.
