Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful puzzle I bought a few M & D products for my son's upcoming 2 year birthday and this puzzle was one of the gifts I was supposed to give him. I actually gave it to him today instead! This puzzle is great. My son loves it. Ever since I opened it, he can't get enough. He already knows where all the pieces go and it provides him with endless entertainment and fun. It really well made. Strong, durable wood and very sturdy as well as colorful. I am very happy with this purchase and I recommend this puzzle to anyone with young children. It aids in early development and learning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large knobs I have a son with cerebal palsy and this is his favorite puzzle. It is the only puzzle I can find with the large knobs. I also have two grandsons, 27 months and 11 months, and they also LOVE Uncle Dan's puzzle. It teaches them their shapes and colors, and is just right for their little hands. (My youngest grandson also likes it because when he holds the pieces in his hands and crawls, it makes a "cool" sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size! My one year old loves this. At first, he just wanted to make noise with the pieces--which was a fun exercise to watch in itself. He experimented with each one to see which shapes he preferred to bang together comfortably. Unlike some of the thinner versions of wooden puzzles with small handles, this is perfect for him to manage and manipulate. Now nearly three weeks after playing with them, he has begun to attempt placing them into the correct spots and has been successful. You must encourage this toy and spend quality time playing with your child to see progress with it, but it is definitely worth it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality is lacking Bought several Melissa & Doug puzzles for my son. Two were of the old style--handpainted-now very hard to find as Melissa & Doug no longer use paint for the puzzles. Instead, they use thin, uncoated stickers that easily start to flake off with minimal play. That was our experience with this puzzle, and I've read other reviews complaining of the same problem. Melissa & Doug name used to stand for quality; now their products are no better than any other brand, so why pay more for them? I understand not wanting to use paint due to lead concerns, however, I wish they would've put some kind of safe clear coat over the stickers to keep them from disintegrating so easily. Very disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great idea, cheaply made Just bought the puzzle today and my son loved the wooden handles to grab the puzzle pieces, but once he was playing with then and had drooled and put one in his mouth, the paint started coming off. Turns out they are not wood, rather a cheap particle board. Melissa and Doug, make them out of wood!! Or seal them better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Making Smarter Babies The kids I babysit got this from there Grandma for Christmas one year. They absolutely love it, and now at two years old can say all the shapes from cirle to octagon and can tell you how many sides each shape has. The family is really big on math, so this is great for them, plus it makes the kids more knowledgeable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it! Great toy! My son started playing with this puzzle at just before turning 1. He loves it and goes back to it again and again over other puzzles. The knobs are large enough for him to grasp easily which makes it much easier to spin the pieces to fit into the slots. He know all the animals by name and make the animals sounds when putting the pieces in. When we have play dates the other babies love to play with this puzzle also!
